When it comes to thermal insulation on traditional terrace roofs, it should be understood that Thermal Insulation is applied on the floor concrete of the terrace and waterproofing is done on it. Slope concrete is laid on the Terrace Roof slab by considering the drains first, or FSMTHERM EPS Slope* - Self-Tilting EPS thermal insulation board is used.
First of all, a high performance vapor barrier layer is applied on the slope concrete so that the EPS thermal insulation board to be applied on the floor does not cause condensation under the water insulation cover above, so that the water vapor formed indoors under the floor does not pass through the thermal insulation board and cause condensation. Then, it is applied on the vapor barrier layer in such a way that there is no gap at the joints of the EPS thermal insulation board, at the junction points of the wall-roof-barrier and at the points where the pipes pierce the terrace. Otherwise, condensation will occur where there are gaps, so care should be taken to apply the thermal insulation material in such a way that there are no gaps at any joint. Then, lay-based insulation cover (self-adhesive elastomeric bitumen waterproofing cover) is applied on the used EPS thermal insulation board.
FSMTHERM EPS products to be used in this type of application are determined according to the purpose of using the terrace as a walkable terrace .
You can apply slope concrete without incurring labor and cost by using the self-tilting FSMTHERM EPS Slope product instead of Slope Concrete.
Using self-tilting FSMTHERM EPS thermal insulation boards in Traditional Flat Roof Thermal Insulation Applications saves the cost and time required by slope concrete. Thanks to the self-tilting FSMTHERM EPS whose dimensions and thicknesses are determined according to the dimensions of the terrace floor with a slope of 1% or 2%, the load imposed by the slope concrete on the building, the time required for its drying after application and the production cost are reset.
In traditional roof applications on walkable terraces, first of all, FSMTHERM EPS100 product with a thickness of at least 4 cm is laid on the terrace floor to cover the entire terrace. Then, Self inclining FSMTHERM EPS is applied according to the arrangement plan specified by FSMTHERM with 1-2% slope determined according to the terrace drainages . At this stage, the Self inclining FSMTHERM EPS product is staggered compared to the FSMTHERM EPS 100 products below. Then, a self-adhesive waterproofing cover is applied on Self inclining FSMTHERM EPS.
While the applied waterproofing cover provides water insulation for the building terrace, it wraps the EPS thermal insulation board from the top, and the vapor barrier covering applied on the slope concrete wraps it from the bottom, thus protecting the EPS thermal insulation board from both sides.
If the terrace is a walkable terrace, the application is completed by laying protection concrete on the waterproofing cover and applying ceramic etc. coating material on it.
If there is a non-walkable terrace, the application is finished by placing the separator felt on the waterproofing cover and gravel on the felt.
